When I set up my current studio, I decided that the first body of work I would make here wouldn’t be for stores or clients, but for myself. I used sterling silver of a heavier stock than usual because I wanted to feel the metal’s sway and weight. Each piece of silver is hand forged, heated in flame, cooled in water, and formed by the blow of the hammer. The balance between the subtle curves and softness of the forms and the surface texture left over from the hammer defines this collection. It is sexy and feminine, but due to the process of fabrication it retains an edginess and strength. Slip Tie turned into a collection of 33 pieces, with both polish and patina. I like this work for its simplicity, sexiness and muscle. All pieces have handmade clasps and french hooks.
